A wayyyyy overdue post but i can't not put it up because...
it was TENNIS WEEK!!!
In conjunction with Malaysia's first ATP tournament after 50 years, several occasions to do with tennis was organized by our so 'wonderful' (ehm...coughbullshitcough) goverment. One of them or rather two of these occasions was the CLASH OF TITANS aka Rafael Nadal vs. Richard Gasquet and the best, the CLASH OF TIMES, current world no. 1, Roger Federer vs. former would no 1, Pete Sampras.
For a girl who wouldn't spend a dime on a Linkin Park concert, I made a deal with my parents to spilt 50-50 the cost of the tickets to see Federer. In the end, as willing as I was to rob a bank, my sis and I only managed to get the RM 253 seatings. That's right. My sis and I. Times two.
You do the maths.
I preordered my tickets via online booking in October and surprisingly, they came in the mail a month later. Hm, we need to have more faith in our mailing system.
My stupid mutt for a dog almost chewed through the package and envelope they came in and I almost slaughtered him. Thankfully, my tickets were safe.
Then came the week which my exams ended and the Federer match was next week. I was psyched but even more so when I received a call from a guy from Taylors, asking me to play for the college in a tennis intercollege tournament the following Saturday. Apparently he heard I was a tennis player. From whom I have no idea.
So yeh, I made the team. Yay!
Long story short.
Saturday :got tennis class.
Sunday: Prince of Tennis Marathon
Monday: Went to see ATP qualifying round for free! Thanks to Sam, Cherrie's coach.
Tuesday: More tennis even though it was raining.
Wednesday: First day of work at Taylors, followed by more tennis after.
Thursday:....Is the day!!!
FEDERER & SAMPRAS!!!
That day, I went to work and I was grinning like an idiot there. Later I found out that Shaun was going as well with his parents so it was arranged that we go with him.
Thank goodness that the traffic to Stadium Melawati was clear and we got there a good one hour before the match begun.
Wilson was selling those big green tennis balls and I wanted one. I could have gotten one had Shaun not pulled me away to drag me to the Heineken beer stand. By the time I got back, there was no more balls. So instead, I bought a white cap as a sourvenir. I realize that I have a thing for caps...
Anyway, we went into the stadium and our seatings was not bad. We had the side view of the court with the players resting chairs facing us. Not bad eh. Took some really good pictures with my dad's Canon.
Shaun's seat was in the RM80 area so for that half an hour before the match started, I was snapping pictures of hiim and his parents from afar. I could see him while he couldn't. We were smsing each other like this.
Tania: I can see u...
Shaun: Where u???
Tania: On your far right.
Shaun: Where U???
Cherrie: Close your legs and sit properly!
Shaun: ....Where r u...?
Hehe....
The evening started with Jacqueline Victor, Malaysian Idol 1's winner performing a few songs. But the sound system was so bad, we couldn't hear what she was singing...I reckon it was a Malay song.
Then a group of dancers performed a Malay, Indian and Chinese dance. After that, the MC, a very fat man, came on to announce the players.
First to make his appearance after 5 years of retirement was Pete Sampras!
The man still looks good after 5 years and plays just as well. I know people say he was probably the world greatest player and I was see why as the evening drew on.
Next, out came the God of Tennis himself, Roger Federer!
Despite just winning the Shanghai Open on Sunday and playing in Korea on Tuesday against Sampras, he looks damn friggin cool and awesome. Clearly, judging by how half the stadium is filled with red-wearing supporters, he was the crowd favourite.
The Fat MC interviewed them as he asked them if they would come back to Malaysia on their next vacation. What kind of bias question is that??
Of course they have to say yes! What do you expect them to say then?
Federer: I don't think so. Probably Japan...
Sampras: Been here. Done that. Where's the communication skill, man...
Then the Fat MC asked Federer: Malaysia truely Asia, right?
....
I swear I was this close to hurdling my camera at him. For the love of tennis, stop promoting Malaysia!
Poor Federer. He looks so cute when he awkwardly repeated 'Malaysia truely Asia.'
After that, we had to sing the national anthem, then USA song and the Swiss anthem. The woman next to Cherrie had an ear-spliting voice as she tried to bellow out the US song. Clearly a Sampras supporter.
After a ten minute warm-up session, the match begun.
I swear I almost died witnessing the awesomeness and grace of both men. That sounds gay but it's the only way to describe their way of playing.
see? Perfect serve.
Note: to those who do not understand what is going on here, sorry. Hehe.
My favourite pic. Federer looks adorable here. The match ended 7-6, 7-6. Totally worth the money.

Fine fine. I am bowing to your demands for me to update. Here it is. Zoey recently just came back from Singapore for a week, during which we went for a steamboat dinner, drinking, mamak and had a sleepover. The place we went to was supposedly famous for their bbq chicken wing which is served every 15 mins and clears out in 15 secs. Here are some pics from the dinner.
The special girl
Me and my ice-cream
Here's the video of the 'famous' bbq chicken. See how fast it clears out. Poor serving lady couldn't even get out in time.
Honestly there was nothing special about the chicken but the seafood steamboat was good.
Shaun and Eemay also came although they were an hour late. How inconsiderate but who cares. That's them.
The newly-weds Makan sisters
This was the response when I asked them how was the food.
Yasmin: *GRINS* Cherrie: *Hm....I want more ice-cream*
There ya have it. I'll update more once the exams are over. Peace out!

Welcome!
Serving for the Ace.
It's Me
I'm just an ordinary girl with a streak for being a tad too sarcastic and rebellious at times. Other than that, I'm an all rounded (not physically!) in sports and academic stuffs. I worship the sport of tennis and whenever I feel inspired (which is very often) I write stories to express my self. I'm an anime buff so don't freak if I declare myself engaged to some odd character. For the moment, reality interests me no more. I'll let you known when I've have returned to it. Music keeps me going as it reflects my mood so take a hint. In other words, I'm just another person trying to find her purpose and destiny in life
