It has been almost three years since I left high school and only recently, I've been reminded of something I once held a passion for.
Cheerleading.
Being a part of TCPJ 'unofficial' dance group, I was looking for a 'boom effect' we needed for the dance and came across some of my old cheerleading songs. That really got the ball rolling.
Man, don't I miss being co-captain of the school team. The sweet knowledge that Sri Aman's first cheerleading team, Team Cross got 9th placing out of 30 over school nation-wide for Cheer 2003 was priceless. And even more so the fact that, the Sri Aman's junior-wanna-be team *DSTarz&BStarz* that followed years on, never beat our ranking.
I miss my team, even the bitches who gives cheerleading a bad name but are still part of the team. I miss the practices everyday under the hot sun and the routine that we pulled off together. Heck, I miss my partner in crime and co-captain, Eleen and even our coach, Mr. John Lim from Charmed All Starz aka M'sia national cheerleading team.
Despite our lack of experience, we were still a team and acted as one. Those were the best days of my life and sad to say, I regretted not taking part the following year due to stupid SPM.
I even got an offer to join the National team for goodness sakes!!
All becos of a stupid exam which I flunked most of the time, I quit being a school cheerleader.
Even then, I was stubborn enough to try out for the Blue house team that same year and got in. Three guesses why my results dropped that year...
The next year (2004), it was tradition for the form 5 cheerleaders of all houses to perform a dance performance for sports day. Short to say, we pulled it off in less than 2 months with over 50 cheerleaders.
We had fun, we were privileged (no need to march under the hot sun for sports day) everyone loved us (especially Blue hSE cos we rox!)
Man, I miss being a cheerleader...
